Arts Fest

The Utah Art Festival
just didn't seem to be in the cards for us this year.
There was just no time....
Well this scenario didn't work for Kris and I.
It needed to happen.

So we ran over on our lunch breaks from work.
It was a short trip
but much better than just not going at all.

Of course, we got the famous fresh cut Garlic Fries and sauce. So good!
And we split a Philly cheese steak. Yum!!
We fell in love with this piece. That is one of our fave bars in SLC.
Kris later went back an bought it.

We forgot to get a picture of our stamps...
so we took them separately
and send them too each other.. (yes, we are total dorks, don't judge us)
Turns out we really think alike!! HA!
We both took it by a flower. Seriously dorks!

She and Him vs Tilly and The Wall

This year
I had a particularly lucky and eventful
Birthday!
Thanks to my wonderful friends, husband, and father.

The first Birthday event of the season
was the
She & Him Concert
Thanks to Amy and Kris
I was able to actually go inside and enjoy this show.
Normally I cannot afford Red Butte shows
because they are a little pricey
so Der, Tun, and I watch from the Bonneville Trail
outside the gate.

One of the best things about this show
was that the opening band
was also one of my favorites!
Tilly and The Wall!!

They are such a fun band to watch too.
They have someone that clogs the whole time
and a mob of people ran up to the stage to dance.
This is basically a seated show.
It was such a good time!

We were so lucky to have
had the chance to meet the band
and take some photos with them.
They were totally cool!

VIDEO VIDEO VIDEO
Sadly, we were not supposed to have been taking photos
which is why there aren't many
and why the video is so short.
We were trying to be sneaky
but people were getting busted.

Zooey came out on stage
and she was just so tiny and adorable!
The stage looked so beautiful.
They had lights everywhere.
Zooey played non stop.
She literally never took a break
Just song after song.

Everyone stood up and walked to the front,
most of us barefoot
It was such a neat feeling
to be up there with all of these strangers
that love something as much as you so.
And you can enjoy it together for that short amount of time.
I love concerts!

The simplicity of his life...

... makes me realize the undue complexity of ours.

It is true...
he can't speak English, he doesn't comprehend everything we tell him, he can't read this blog, he can't get a job and help us pay the bills, he can't argue with us when he's pissed off, he can't even explain to us the pain, fear, happiness, or excitement that he feels....
Even still, he reminds me every day, of the true meaning of real life.

That moment when your heart has been crushed, and it feels like the end of your world has just crashed through your front door without warning.
No one can ever be forgiven, nothing will ever be forgotten, and all you will ever feel again is the unapproachable, sinking sadness that has taken over the part of your mind you once believed you had control over.

... And then, in steps this ridiculously fluffy, cloud covered paw, into the tub... he stares at you.
Eyes full of concern. Nothing but blind, unending, deep concern.

In a tiny moment, you forget your sadness.
A moment just barely long enough to help you realize that you had forgotten what was really important.
You are, in this very moment, surrounded by the ones you love the most.
 The ones who love you.

What else could matter so much?
What truer meaning could there possibly be to real life?

The infamous day of N&W

Never have I shed so many unwanted tears
at such a beautiful event

My sorrowful trip to California

This past June
I was fortunate enough to have a reason to get home
to see my family.
Unfortunately, the particular reason for traveling was not of my favorites

I flew down to Cali alone,
with a pit in my stomach and a feeling of surety
The thing I was sure about was the fact that I would not regret my decision
to come home for this particular event.
The pit in my stomach, was all of the reasons why I almost didn't come home,
fluttering around my mind.
I did not take any photos of this event... but I will write a more personal post dedicated to it later.

On a happier note: PUPPIES!

My Babs!!!
I love her so much it hurts.
Rocky!
He is such a dork.
Babs waits patiently for us to come home.

I got french toast from Steve's! Happy girl!

I know, I have a problem.... But she's just so cute

The beautiful sis! She's all grown up.
The shirt we brought him from Rio

Thrifting in Idyllwild is one of my fave things to do when I go home
My mom and sisters are the only people that love it as much as I do.
So we have a lot of fun.
My findings were quite fabulous last time.

Ha ha!! I love these girlies!!

Playtime with the pups!

Sleepy time with the pups.

Did I mention... I love puppies. :)

All in all it was a great trip...
and I wouldn't take it back.
That being said....
Things did not go ultimately well
with the respect to the situation I was speaking of earlier.
I have come to terms with the realization that sometimes things are just not meant to be
and maybe that will be better for everyone in the long run.

PSSM 2013

Nothing too exciting here....

Except for the fact that Derek and Dan showed up at the Park Silly Sunday Market to hang with us
after their intense bike ride.
They did not change....

Gotta love road biker clothes!

We only made it to Park Silly about 3 times last season
Which was plenty for Derek,
but personally I kind of missed feeling like a part of the silly staff

And Tundra loves the market too!

And Derek loves Tundra.... Ha! :)

Del Mar Fairgrounds

The Del Mar Fair
is one of my dad and I's oldest and most beloved traditions.
After Moonlight Beach we headed over to the fairgrounds and had a wonderful night,
that actually turned out to be much better than expected.

You are about to see the most EPIC trail of bunnies ever!
And I have seen a lot of cool bunnies.

"Why, God why??? Would you ever put this much fur on someone my size!?!?"
"Whatcha got there?? Somethan good?? Gimme.... I'm not fat... "
"Hey.... just cause I can't see you doesn't mean I'm not fierce."

I LOVE THE FAIR

As we were flying over the fairgrounds
we realized we were listening to something familiar coming from the amphitheater...

It was....
Colbie Caillat

Pretty great coincidence.
And it was a free concert.
I had already seen her once when she opened for John Mayer a couple years ago
but it was still great.
She had some amazing new songs out.

We went through some fun houses....
Rode some crazy rides.....
And ate some funnel cake!

Last but certainly not least....
we ended our night with our favorite Del Mar fair tradition...
The Photo Booth!
